I’m New to Cocktails. Where Do I Begin?
Learning how to craft a cocktail is easy but you’ll want to understand a few cocktail basics before you begin.
First, a little bartending 101. Start simple with a two-ingredient cocktail. Then add a base spirit like vodka, tequila, or whiskey. Add a juice like pineapple and then top it all off with a garnish.
Once you understand the elements of a cocktail—the base spirit, the balancing agents, and modifiers (lime juice, honey syrup, bitters, tonic, etc.) and basic mixing techniques like stirring, shaking and muddling—cocktail making at home will be easy.
