How to Measure
Cocktail making is part art, part precision. Sure, you can just guess your cocktail measurements but if you want balanced and reliable results, start sharpening your measuring game.
Consistency, Consistency, Consistency
It’s all about achieving balance. If you use too much of your main spirit it may overpower the other ingredients. Too weak, the flavor may get diluted (watered down). This is where using a cocktail jigger will come in real handy (a shot glass or measuring cup will work too.) Learning how to measure in parts precisely will help create the balance every successful cocktail needs.
Parts? What Are Those?
Parts are universal ratios you can use no matter what you’re measuring with. If you're using ounces, for example, one part whiskey and three parts soda would be one ounce whiskey and three parts soda. No matter how you convert it, as long as you stay consistent you’ll make a balanced cocktail.
